A Village Poem
In a forest of reflections
my mind
Learns to quiet,
to let in
the whole of Light
that is You
Mirrors everywhere
in one shard
our wishes and fears.
Look deeply and see the wholeness
that lives in the mirror of colored light,
then rest.
Anywhere, anytime.
Rain splattering
in a luminous grove,
the sky is raining colors onto earth
dripping, splashing,
dribbling, scribbling
smearing, and scrawling,
Sky water
bathe me in your colors
textures and rhythms
until we are one flowing stream
of life itself!
And so, it is your birthday again.
I will light candles
Sing loudly,
honor your ashes,
mourn our bad luck.
To utter, to trace,
to cover up,
to erase.
shuffling
through wet blossoms
Crossing the river
colorful leaves
flying free
dazzling fingers of light
Surrendering into a golden glee
She gathered what she was leaving
And tossed it all to joy.
Oh, the dance!
I invited a group of friends to participate with me and co-create a Village Poem! I supplied the painting; and each responded with 1-3 lines of poetry. With these lines I put together a poem! A Village Poem!
This painting is part of my series called “Accidental Beauty”.
