Light Space & Time “Solo Art Series”

December 14, 2023

Jai Keller’s work will be featured in the Artist Showcase at Light Space & Time, January 1 – 14, 2024.

The “Solo Art Series” competition closed on September 5, 2023. 12 artists were selected as finalists. From that selection, 4 artists were chosen to receive individual month-long solo art exhibitions.  The remaining 8 artists were awarded Artist Showcase features.

The Solo Art Series took place within an extremely competitive atmosphere.   The task of selecting only four top winning artists from the 69 artists who entered was extremely challenging.  The high quality of submissions made creating the final rankings extraordinarily difficult.

The competitive process considered not only the quality and depth of the artist’s work but also the overall entry presentation, including the artist’s biography and artist’s statement.  The following are the 4 winning Solo Series Artists and the schedule of their solo art exhibitions.Solo Art Exhibition Schedule

writing about painting

January 13, 2020

This last piece of art I did yesterday
It has me
It speaks to me
I find myself at a beach, a house, black, with whitened shutters, a large front door that was stark white and then I softened it with some creamy white with tints of magnenta on the floor boards.. some figures in black dance at the opening.. they are as large as the opening
They have outgrown the house.. the roof is becoming the wind, the sky, it is dissolving into , becoming nothing, becoming
Something else
Something other than its form of house…
The ocean comes right up to this abode and the waves touch gently
The sky is moving fast with swirls of colors and yet there is an Empty Stillness that abides here
On the right there is some kind of boat perhaps, small, very small in comparison to the house which stands in the center of the painting even tho the sky takes up the majority of the canvass

The focus for me is this house that is dissolving, with the roof’s energy spiraling up into the sky
I no longer fit in the small enclosures I have allowed for myself to feel safe
I am being asked to expand, explore, exhilarate
I am being asked to speak, to start a fresh new path into the mystery

I am ready, as ready as I can be
I hear and feel the call
I am ready to plant new seeds that will harvest large expanses of treasures
Manifest, manifest, manifest
I hear this
I am ready
Ready to play in a bigger way with a voice that is not hiding
With a voice that stands in a new found confidence and maturity
A maturity that speaks aloud and wants to be heard
To be heard and felt, this, this is my voice, this is the way I see and feel and know life
I want you to know me, to understand how it is to live under the same canopy of stars and to see from our unique perspectives
Here is mine! I am ready to show you how life moves through me, how I taste the sky, the land, how my soul is learning and growing and how the empty is calling me
