Jai Keller is primarily a self taught visual artist. Words such as alchemy, mystery, luminous, mystical, ethereal, visionary, shamanic all describe Jai’s painting style. She studied with Nicholas Wilton for two years. Jai’s main teachers have been the natural world and the mystery of life and death.
Jai has been painting for 25 years. After many years of studying ceramics and sculpture, Jai entered the world of painting during a serious illness. It was during a moment of prayer to paint large paintings from the Source, that the paintings began to flow and teach Jai how to heal. Art became the medicine for healing and transformation. Feelings that were never felt came rushing to the surface to be held, to be rocked in the luminous and one day, being sent back to the ocean of it All.
July, 2022 Jai’s twin sister died. For the past 16 months Jai’s artmaking has been about their relationship, grieving the immensity of this loss and and healing into the new unknown.
Jai’s tribute to her sister is a book of Paintings and Words called The Moon Lights The Way: Through Grief and Loss. The date of publishing will be announced.
Finding my Sister is a series of paintings that transport to sacred temples of light and unknown worlds and realms. The artist is the creator and the created. She is the one who grieves and the one who is the vessel and the Source of the healing medicine. Before painting, Jai makes an invocation to honor all of life.
